GM spuds beat blight

Results of three-year field trial to test whether potatoes engineered to recognize blight (so their natural defense mechanisms are activated) can withstand races of blight in the UK. Genetically modified Desiree potatoes survived, while 100 percent of non-GM ones were infected.
