A road map: High efficiency bulk-micromegas based neutron imaging detector

Currently, the low detection efficiency of Bulk-Micromegas neutron detectors limits its use in neutron imaging systems. To overcome this, three novel converters were proposed and validated using Monte Carlo simulations. One of these converters, a matrix of 45 degree inclined parallel pillars, increases the fast neutron conversion/detection efficiency threefold compared with non-converter neutron detectors.
